The forest cross was built at the beginning of the 20th century at the fork "Zassentrick" / "Zum Waldkreuz" by Maximilian Lochner von Hüttenbach, who had brought it from Lindau to the Lower Rhine. At this point, it marked the entrance to his forest company. Due to his diverse urban development projects, Lochner von Hüttenbach was made an honorary citizen of Elten in 1932. Even today, the forest cross invites you to a quiet prayer or to linger in the green.
