Founder and leader of anti-fascism in Arezzo. Born in 1904 not far from Arezzo, lawyer. Active in anti-fascism before 1943. In 1942 he was sentenced to four years of exile for this. In September 1943, after the fall of Mussolini, he returned to Arezzo and became president of the provincial committee of the Concentrazione Antifascista, a cross-party organization, and also took part in the armed struggle against the occupiers. On May 30, 1944, he was arrested by the Germans and tortured for 17 days without making any usable statements. A rescue operation planned for June 15 failed. He was eventually killed by the Nazis, along with four other partisans.
After the war, he was awarded the Golden Medal of Bravery.
The relief was donated by the Christian Democrats on the 30th anniversary of the liberation.
