The Santuário de Nossa da Nazaré is an important religious shrine in the picturesque coastal town of Nazaré. The church is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Many thousands of pilgrims come here each year. Of particular note is the nearly 1,000-year-old black statue of the Virgin Mary inside.

Here the title and photos do not match. The very beautiful blue tile chapel is the Ermida da Memória or Capela de Nossa Senhora da Nazaré. Not the imposing church Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Nazaré. Was lucky enough to witness a Portuguese wedding of about 100 people there. All very smartly dressed on the stairs to the wedding photo.
