In the summer of 2012, graffiti artists from Spain, France and Karlsruhe (the 'Farbschall e.V.' association) painted and sprayed the 'Auer Straße' underpass, which had previously been described as a 'space of fear' at the Durlach children's conference. Questionnaires were distributed in advance at local schools and in the youth center. The aim of the questionnaire campaign was to incorporate suggestions and ideas from children and young people into the redesign of the underpass. Graffiti street art created a light, colorful sequence of motifs that refer to the local, exotic and fantastic. The images are complemented by text: the lettering 'Durlach' underlines the importance of the regional, while the quote from the United Nations' 'Declaration of Human Rights' brings an important global aspect into the overall design.
