There are numerous plantations on the Danish North Sea coast,

which were established at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century to combat sand drift.

To the north of Blåvandshuk lies Vejers Plantage - a typical plantation planted on deposited sea sand.

It was established between 1894 and 1910 and consists of large sea dunes in the west, deflation basins with

moors and, in the far east, forest and dune heaths.

The plantation is surrounded by open heaths, which form the main part of the Danish military training area at

Oksbøl.

Area: almost 1,400 hectares.

Vegetation: today primarily mountain pine and Scots pine - in the future a mosaic of forest areas with conifers and

deciduous trees and light-flooded landscapes with meadows and moors.

Animal life: the large population of red deer is worth mentioning

and the life in the lakes where you can fish for perch.
