The dragon is, alongside the radome, THE landmark of Wachtberg.

Since September 2019, a dragon sculpture has stood on the central island of the roundabout at the Wachtberg shopping center. It was constructed by Willi Reiche, seven students from the Hans-Dietrich-Genscher School in Berkum (a high-profile community secondary school, grade 10), their art teacher Monika Düren, and two upper school students from the Aloisiuskolleg from an iron framework and vast amounts of scrap metal. The school project was initiated by the Friends of Art and Culture in Wachtberg (KuKiWa) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the municipality of Wachtberg. The dragon sculpture stands out significantly from the artist's usual work, as it lacks kinetics, and the three-dimensional representation of the heraldic animal is characterized by a highly naturalistic depiction.

At a public meeting of the Wachtberg municipal council at the end of June 2021, it was unanimously decided that the Wachtberg dragon should be named "Godart von" after its historical namesake, the knight "Godart de Drachenvels." Wachtberg" should be worn."
