View of the Meuse Valley from the Terrils of Maasmechelen

As the name suggests, Maasmechelen is not far from the Maas. One of the sub-municipalities is called Mechelen-aan-de-Maas and a few other sub-municipalities such as Leut and Meeswijk are located on the narrow piece of land between the Zuid-Willemsvaart and the Maas. They are known to those who have done Maas walks. So from the terrils, which are partly in Maasmechelen (including the sub-municipality of Eisden) to the east of you, you see views over the Maas valley. The Zuid-Willemsvaart and Maas are not immediately included with the vegetation and such, but it remains beautiful - and always useful for those who are interested. By the way, you are here at an intermediate lookout point with benches, so for the most beautiful views, a little patience and steps upwards.
