A plaque commemorates the Jewish teacher born in Norden and founder of Youth Aliyah, an organization that brought thousands of Jewish children and young people from Germany to safety between 1933 and 1941. The large stone sculpture "Relief" (2001) by the Frankfurt sculptor Dietz Eilbacher in the west of the square undertakes an artistic examination of Recha Freier's life and work.
