Norder low around 1900
The Norder Deep runs approximately in east-west direction. The origin of the Norder low lies in the municipality Großheide as Kleiner Rendel and Blandorfer deep, is called in the area of the patch Hage then Hager low and changes in the area of the neighboring community Lütetsburg the name in Norder Tief. On a small section in the area of the city of Norden, the low is also called Galgentief. The Norder Tief ended in 1991 at Leybuchtsiel in the Leybucht.
The Norder Tief takes up numerous drainage ditches. It is of central importance for the drainage of the neighboring communities. Since 1991, however, is no longer drained by the built in 1929 Leybuchtsiel. Rather, during the construction of the headland Leyhörn near Greetsiel the Störtebekerkanal was created as a connection from Leybuchtsiel to Leyhörn, so that is drained by this. At the Leybuchtsiel the drainage was only possible at low tide
