Johann Ludwig Uhland (* 26 April 1787 in Tübingen; † 13 November 1862 ibid) was a German poet, literary scholar, lawyer and politician.

No name is as present in Tübingen as Uhland's - which is not surprising, since among the many poets whose names are associated with the city, he is the only one born in Tübingen, and in his time (and long afterward) one of the most famous poets in Germany. His "Poems", first published in 1815, are among the most widely read books of the 19th century.

His house was at the northern end of the Neckar Bridge on the corner of Mühlstrasse and Gartenstrasse. He and his wife Emilie purchased the classicist building, built in 1828, in what was then a prime location outside the city gates, with steep orchards and vineyards, and moved into it in 1837. - The Germania fraternity, which later became a neighbour and to which Uhland belonged, bought the house in 1910 and maintained a small Uhland museum there, among other things. Its exhibits, including writings and Uhland's death mask, are now on display in a display case in the Germanenhaus. - The house was destroyed in a bombing raid on the night of May 15-16, 1944. Today, there is a snack bar and a coffee shop on this spot, the so-called Germanen-Eck. New development of the property is being considered. The large garden above, which extends up to Österbergstrasse, is now a listed green space, but is not open to the public.

Uhland's parents' house is at Hafengasse 3 (now the Dauth toy store), and his birthplace is at Neckarhalde 24.
