"Idyllic and natural estuary of the Rotbach stream into the Rhine. The Rotbach stream flows for approximately 22 km through the urban areas of Bottrop and Dinslaken, before flowing into the Rhine in Voerde. The estuary is spanned by a wooden bridge, which can, however, be flooded during floods. Due to subsidence caused by coal mining and several incidents, extensive renaturation measures along the stream were necessary in the 1990s. A pumping station and several dikes were built above the Rotbachsee lake.Further information is available at KuLaDig (Culture.Landscape.Digital) of the Rhineland Regional Association.
