The Hôtel Du Breuil de St-Germain is a historic building in Langres, which now houses the Maison des Lumières Denis Diderot, a museum dedicated to the Siècle des Lumières and the famous writer and philosopher Denis Diderot. Built in 1576 by Sébastien Valtier de Choiseul, a wealthy nobleman, the building has an L-shaped plan and a mix of Renaissance and Classical styles. It features an impressive 18th-century gate and a frieze with gargoyles. It is one of the first examples of a hôtel particulier, a type of luxury residence for the wealthy bourgeoisie. The building is a national monument and can be visited from the outside. It is one of the 20 most beautiful sights around Langres. 😊
