The Puppet and Circus Museum, a branch of the Czech National Museum, has a permanent exhibition that combines puppetry, circus and variety arts, and the art of magic. The museum was opened in 2006 - despite initial opposition from the city council - in a Renaissance house from the second half of the 16th century on the Great Square. In 2006 and 2007, the museum organized a magic festival called "Old School of Magic." On display are replicas of the world-famous Czech puppets Spejbl and Hurvínek, among others.
