Served as protection against damage caused by flooding and ice before the river was straightened at the Steinheim Mainknie.
Named after the red sandstone used here.

The "Red Wall" is a historic structure. Unfortunately, it has also become a "nuisance" on the "MainRadweg" below the castle in Steinheim. It is a very confusing and therefore dangerous bottleneck.
