This inconspicuous stone lies just north of Gairnshiel on the side of the Old Military Road (A939) in Aberdeenshire. Located in a landscape dotted with large boulders you would not think twice about paying any attention to this particular stone however it is famous amongst the locals.
Known as ‘The Ringing Stone’, this particular large boulder is surrounded by small rocks as visitors come to listen to the intriguing hollow sound it makes as you tap it with a stone.
