The clay works was built in the course of industrialization and is now a biotope. 1875 the clay works was built north of the Holzkirchen - Rosenheim railway line after the Kolbermoor spinning mill. It was first a brick factory for roof and masonry tiles, later a concrete roof tile factory and then a corrugated sheet factory until production ended in 1987. The approximately 25 hectare area was renatured, the clay works pit was no longer pumped out and the pond and plants were filled with it and animals gradually appeared. Today the Tonwerkweiher is a popular local recreation area with walking paths with various accesses, a training apiary and impressive rubbish baskets, forged during the famous blacksmith biennial.
