Old town with beautiful buildings and many shops for shopping and dining

Even in the Middle Ages, Rosenheim was a transshipment point for all types of goods that were transported on the Inn. The settlement at the Inn Bridge, which dates back to Roman times, developed into a transport hub. In 1328, Rosenheim received market rights and grew into one of the most important markets in Bavaria. The economic decline came in the course of the 17th century with the decline in shipping on the Inn and the consequences of the Thirty Years' War - the plague and the great fire of 1641.
In the middle of the 19th century, Rosenheim once again experienced an unprecedented economic boom: the impetus for this was the construction of the third Bavarian saltworks in 1810 and the railway line from Munich to Salzburg, which went into operation in 1857. The population multiplied in the following 50 years from 3,000 to 14,000 inhabitants. Far-reaching changes took place both politically and socially, and many new jobs were created in crafts and industry. Consequently, King Ludwig II granted city rights to Rosenheim in 1864.
The upheaval at that time is also reflected in the urban development structure: the narrow boundaries of the medieval market are broken down and Rosenheim grows into the economic center of southeast Bavaria. Many developments and buildings from this Wilhelminian era can still be seen in the cityscape of the university and timber town today.
20 information steles make the individual changes visible and invite you to embark on a journey of discovery: the images from the past come into direct juxtaposition with the current situation. This immersion in history is the key to understanding the city today and can provide direction for future developments.

My favorite series, the Rosenheim Cops, is set in Rosenheim. There was a corpse.
