Hiking

The traditional name "Old Schoolhouse" for the Weiden City Museum derives from the fact that both the German School and the Latin School were housed here since 1565. The Weiden City Museum in Upper Palatinate was founded in 1896 as a collection of trade samples by Supreme Court Judge Albert Vierling and expanded into a local history museum in 1902 by City Archivist Hans Wagner and Magistrate Christian Aichinger. Since 1979, it has been housed in the "Hans Bauer" Cultural Center, a box building belonging to the Clothmakers' Guild's Old Alms Foundation, which was completed in 1566.

The town fire in 1536 destroyed the house down to its foundations. After the new building was constructed in 1565, the Latin school and the German school were housed here. This is where the traditional name "Old Schoolhouse" comes from. The building was completely restored from 1975 to 1979.
