The lake is shining blue as we set off, the view across the water is clear, the phalanx of herons stands free of haze on the edge of the bird reserve's reeds, above them the bright white guano trees, completely covered in shit by cormorants, contrasting with the bright red dogwood that breaks through the blue of the water.

There can hardly be a more beautiful light for viewing Lake Baldeney.
