Rosenberg Fortress towers majestically above the Upper Franconian town of Kronach. It is one of the best-preserved fortresses in Bavaria and boasts a long history, dating back to the 13th century. Remarkably, the fortress has never been captured by force.
The fortress impresses with its extensive grounds, featuring various architectural styles from Romanesque to Baroque, as it has been continually expanded over the centuries. Particularly noteworthy are the early Baroque fortress gate, considered one of the most beautiful in Germany, and the underground tunnel system.
Today, Rosenberg Fortress houses the Franconian Gallery, a branch of the Bavarian National Museum, which exhibits important Franconian works of art. The Rosenberg Festival, a popular open-air theater, is also regularly held here. The fortress is a popular tourist destination and offers impressive insights into the defensive architecture of bygone times.

Beautiful facility with a fantastic view.
Tip: Cyclists should ride across the bus parking lot to the upper entrance. There's a sign saying "No bicycles allowed," but go through the door anyway, and after 20 meters, you'll find yourself in a vaulted area with bike racks and e-bike charging stations!
