    Tips

    July 23, 2024

Some climbing necessary here, somewhat exposed....dangerous when wet. There are easier alternative trails.

      August 6, 2024

Some of the finest easy grade scrambling in the UK. Not to be underestimated. In the wet it can be lethal.

        September 8, 2024

The most exciting route up to Blencathra but one that should be reserved for dry windless days. In those good conditions this grade one scramble isn’t really worse than Striding Edge on Helvellyn. The difficult section is quite short but the exposure is severe.

Sharp Edge on a wet day can be a very different proposition because the rock becomes greasy and slippery in just the places you least want it. Wind just exacerbates the situation.

In winter conditions this is a route to be avoided by all not equipped and with the skills and knowledge for a winter mountaineering experience.
