I`m currently doing consultancy and training work for a technical & qualification company in Richards Bay, north of Durban. Today I was invited to a very attractive event with a double purpose: First it is held on Mandela's birthday which is celebrated throughout the country. He is a hero, like Ghandi in India. Second it has been established over the years as a Charity event. Supported and sponsored by a number of companies, associations and clubs, the mayor and the press are present. The fire brigades collects the donations in clothes and other goodies (like wheelchairs from the Rotary Club): they collect and distribute to those who are in need.
My Host Company - RBTTAC - have benn one of the sponsors, for the last seven years. One of their donations was the huge Cake to the honor of Nelson Mandela that you see in the picture.
This event was a great experience for me: apart from the professional life a precious piece of cultural and social life in South Africa.
