Great ensemble of industrial culture. The gastronomy located in the area of the former mine is strongly seasonal and event-related. Current information, especially about opening times, can be found at: eventa-zeche-westfalen.de.

Except for the buildings worth preserving, the daytime facilities at shaft 1/2 have been demolished. The demolition of the coal washing plant on 5 November 2003 was particularly spectacular. The site has been used since 2006 as a commercial space and venue. The new commercial center of the former Lohnhalle and Weißkaue is home to various high-tech companies. A climbing wall of the BigWall Klettercentrum Ahlen, which is up to 22 meters high, is located in the former Schwarzkaue as well as an indoor high ropes course. Since November 2007, the "Lohnhalle" and "Weißkaue" buildings have also been used as conference and trade fair venues. In the rooms of the former mine rescue, the mining tradition club Zeche Westfalen has set up a museum. Shafts 1 and 2 as well as the friction hall between the two have been listed since 2013. The Förderverein Fördergerüste receives the conveyor scaffolds and offers visitor groups guided ascents on pit 1.
The former harbor railway of the Westphalia coal mine, which connected the tunnels 1/2, 3 and 4 over a length of approx. 8.5 km to the factory-owned loading port on the Datteln-Hamm canal, has since been converted into a bicycle and footpath. This is part of the Werseradweg and has since 2011 connection to the new Roman Lippe route.

Successful mixture of tradition and modernity. Appealing gastronomy in renovated old buildings of the former coal mine.
