This church was built after the previous church was irreparably damaged by war. The design for the church is by the architect Kees de Bever (Vught, March 26, 1897 – January 9, 1965), a cruciform church designed in traditionalist style with a tower placed on the side left, a semi-circular apse instead of a choir and attached sacristies on the transepts, a central nave with side aisles. Above the main entrance, a baldachin on the facade contains the gilded statue of Mary, from the tower of the previous church.

What happened to the Roman Catholic Church? Church in World War 2?
The Germans shelled the church tower in May 1940 and on October 31, 1944 they blew up the tower with an explosive charge. The church was in ruins.
The statue of Mary remained intact and was placed in the baldachin above the porch when the new church was built.
