In the second half of the 19th century, the post office is located on the other side of the street, strategically along the Breda-Gorinchem postal route. The Post and Telegraph Office soon becomes too small. It is a coincidence that the 'Huis ten Deijl' located on the other side burns down. The site will be publicly sold to the Post Office. On December 24, 1908, the new post office is inaugurated. The post office was designed by the government architect in the so-called chalet style. This style came into vogue around 1900 and is based on Swiss chalet construction, with characteristic details such as overhanging roofs, a lot of woodwork and the so-called half-timbering.
