The New Palace was built in the 17th century to the west of the Old Höchst Palace between the moat, the city wall and Bolongarostrasse. Probably originating from two small noble residences, the ensemble came into the possession of the Electors of Mainz during the Thirty Years' War. This complex, also known as the "Cavaliersbau", was used by the Electors of Mainz during their stays in Höchst as a replacement for the burned-down "Old Palace". It was sold in 1784 and used for a number of different purposes up until the 20th century, which required corresponding renovations.
