Wind and wedding mill in Holzhausen with a view of the Kaiser Wilhelm monument

Maschmeyer's mill in Holzhausen on the Porta is a Wall-Dutch mill from the first half of the 19th century with sail gate wings and wind rose and automatic wind tracking. The original technology was expanded and, as part of the temporary expansion, a sawmill was first powered by a steam engine and then electrically. The mill was renovated between 1987 and 1989.

The Holzhausen windmill at the Porta (also called Maschmeyer's Mill; Mill Route No. 38) is a Dutch windmill with a plastered, conical quarry stone tower. The year of construction of the current mill is unclear (it must have been between 1807 and 1837). A royal post mill stood on the same site as early as 1740, which is known to have burned down in 1832. The wind power was replaced early on by a steam engine (1910), then by an electric motor (1927). Shortly after 1945, the mill was shut down. After years of decay, it was restored between 1987 and 1989: Its exterior is once again a beautiful windmill, while a functioning electric motor has been installed inside. Since then, the mill and the restored miller's and bakery houses have been regularly open for milling and baking days. The mill grounds are also freely accessible outside of events.
