The Blutseemoor near Kist is a nature reserve in the Irtenberger Forest, which is part of the fauna-flora-habitat areas (FFH). It is known for its swinging lawn, which is the largest in Lower Franconia and floats on an underground body of water. The name Blutsee comes from a type of algae that sometimes turns the water red. The moor is not allowed to be entered as it is life-threatening.

The Blutsee Moor is a 1941 designated reserve. With an area of approximately 5.8 hectares, it offers the largest swinging lawns in Lower Franconia and a popular path for walkers around the eponymous blood lake. It is a fen.

The name goes back to a special kind of red single-celled animals, which occasionally multiply massively in the blood-lake and thus make the lake appear more or less blood-red.

Yesterday it was foggy and most of the trees are still leafy. The first yellow leaves on the trees shone between the green that you thought the sun was coming through. Still, it was a typical foggy mood. Apart from a photographer, I had the whole area to myself. So I circled the blood lake, partly looked for the path, climbed over fallen tree trunks and hopped over tree roots. It was a great atmosphere here. Judging by the pictures of other Komootler, there was relatively little water in the lake that day. Should I be in the area again at a different time of the year or in different weather, I will definitely come back here again. I liked it!
