If you walk along the beach (and it will certainly be different at the bathing areas at the northern and southern ends of the nature reserve), it looks like this... lots of stones, including large ones, and little or no sand. A few old groynes are weathering away in the water...
Entry into a narrow strip is permitted in large parts, even though signs point to nesting birds and their protection, and areas of the beach and dunes are cordoned off with ropes. In some areas, however, access to the beach is completely prohibited.
Oh yes, you are still allowed to sunbathe and swim - but you have to walk longer and more uncomfortable distances. And then you swim... naked.
