nice little time capsule running basically in the middle of the lake with great views (to the north anyway, lumber cartel on the other side), this used to be the road to the ferry until the Luukkaansalmi bridge was built (you can still see the ferry gates at the far end which is closed to cars)pro tip: if you fancy a swim, the lake north of here has clean water (and there are plenty of good spots for a wild swim off the gravel road to Mikonsaari), the waters to the south not so much (as if you couldn’t tell from the smell)... this embankment actually also has a function in keeping the two sides apart as the industry needs clean water as well, water levels are artificially being kept slightly higher on the north side via the pump station in Vehkataipale to make sure the waters never flow the wrong way
