This pretty fountain stands on the market square and is particularly relevant during the carnival season

The Austrian shield in red-white-red, the Üsenberg wing and the coat of arms of Saxony can be seen on the fountain. From 1484-90, Sigismund of Austria had Breisgau as a fief. He was married to Katharina of Saxony, which is why public buildings had to bear the Saxon coat of arms during this time.
This is where Fasnet begins and ends according to the old ceremony: on "Schmutziger Dunnschdig" (Dirty Thursday) the original figure, the "Jokili", emerges from the fountain and is sunk again on "Fasnet-Zischdig" (Shrove Tuesday).
