Tips

The Katharinenberg is a 492 meter high elevation at the Kaiserstuhl. In the immediate vicinity are the places Endingen, Amoltern and Schelingen. On the Katharinenberg stands the Katharinenkapelle from 1862, a popular destination for hikers. The view from the square around the church is very limited as the trees around the chapel are very tall. However, there is at times the possibility of the tower of the chapel to have a unique panoramic view of the Vosges, the Rhine valley and the nearby Black Forest.

Next to the Katharinenkapelle is a small beer garden, which has only opened temporarily.

Interesting little chapel, mountable church tower with a great view. Open and snack service in summer: Sundays and public holidays from 12 o'clock. However, you should not expect to be treated kindly.

There is also a kiosk next to the chapel. Drinks are not a problem

Very beautiful chapel on the top of the mountain. From the tower you certainly have a great view (unfortunately on our tour closed for renovation)

On weekends (except in winter) you can take a nice break from the hike here.

You can climb the bell tower for a small fee,
(Attention: head does not hit, it is quite narrow there).
But then you can enjoy a great view.

On the Katharinenberg there is a chapel. Here you can rest nicely.

A nice resting place with kiosk, view and in the warmer seasons with a visit to the chapel

Popular and correspondingly busy hiking destination. Worthwhile small chapel and catering trolley with small food and drinks - at least on weekends.

Nice chapel. In the summer months the chapel is open and there is a bit of entertainment up there.

We can safely leave the cell phone with navigation in the backpack for the next 5 km of the "Big Kaister chair round". The way to the St. Catherine's Chapel is well signposted. So we can enjoy nature without any worries and watch one or the other lizard sunbathing.
At route kilometer 7 we reach the chapel on Katharinenberg. The benches and tables under the trees in the shade invite you to take a break.

Nice chapel with great resting place. Hopefully both the chapel and the kiosk after Corona will be open again. Both are currently closed.
