The Katharinenberg is a 492 meter high elevation at the Kaiserstuhl. In the immediate vicinity are the places Endingen, Amoltern and Schelingen. On the Katharinenberg stands the Katharinenkapelle from 1862, a popular destination for hikers. The view from the square around the church is very limited as the trees around the chapel are very tall. However, there is at times the possibility of the tower of the chapel to have a unique panoramic view of the Vosges, the Rhine valley and the nearby Black Forest.

We can safely leave the cell phone with navigation in the backpack for the next 5 km of the "Big Kaister chair round". The way to the St. Catherine's Chapel is well signposted. So we can enjoy nature without any worries and watch one or the other lizard sunbathing.
At route kilometer 7 we reach the chapel on Katharinenberg. The benches and tables under the trees in the shade invite you to take a break.Link to the experience report: schwarzwaldfreude.com/2020/04/10/große-kaisterstuhlrunde-toskanafeeling-und-schwarzwaldblicke
