The permanent artillery batteries were created after 1945 as part of the concept of creating a strong coastal defense. The facilities ensuring their operation were hidden in reinforced concrete shelters. This gave an advantage in combat. The largest concentration of BAS - artillery battery systems was in the area of the Bay of Danzig. The expansion of the permanent artillery battery on the Polish coast lasted until 1955. Due to the changed operational concept of the Warsaw Pact Navy and the development of missile weapons, the batteries were disbanded in 1974.
