The Heidkoppelmoor nature reserve and surroundings northeast of the Lottbeker Reservoir were designated in 1995. It protects a swamp. Peat was mined here until the 1950s. The area covers 62 hectares in Ammersbek and Ahrensburg.
Protection is given to the "fen and rich wetland areas as a core zone, adjacent meadows, pastures and forest biotopes as a development area and buffer zones".
The core zone has meadows with orchids and rare sedge as well as bog areas with two cotton grasses and various endangered swimming beetles. At the edge, the river Moorbek (source river of the Lottbek) flows through a birch-alder quarry. Numerous amphibians such as the moor frog and crested newt live in the area. The sable thorn grasshopper (Tetrix subulata) (species of the Schleswig-Holstein Red List) and the marsh grasshopper (Stethophyma grossum) are known in the area. The spider fauna is very diverse due to the small-scale changing conditions. In 2009, the four-spot cross spider (Araneus quadratus) and autumn spider (genus Metellina) were found in large numbers during an inspection. Canopy spiders also occur. 2012 were u. a. different species of wolf spiders and the list spider (Pisaura mirabilis) registered.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heidkoppelmoor_und_Umgebung
