Hiking

The Lappenloch glassworks was located in the valley section to the north of here. From 1512 onwards it was operated by glassmakers from Helsa, and later also from Wickenrode. They produced everyday glassware such as drinking glasses, bottles and glasses for alchemical laboratories. Towards the end of the 16th century the glassworks had overused the Kaufunger Forest and the Landgrave of Hesse no longer approved any new facilities and did not extend the licenses of the existing glassworks, which led to the end of the Lappenloch glassworks.
