If you’re ever visiting the lighthouse please check the tide times to go on to the island.

You can climb up it at weekends, timetable can be found online at my.northtyneside.gov.uk/sites/default/files/web-page-related-files/Jun%2024%20crossing%20nad%20opening%20times.pdf

There are seals 🦭 on the island, these can be seen over the wall, there’s a little hut with binoculars to get a better look.

Hiking

Back in 1739, there was a naughty local man called Michael Curry who had a falling out with a local pub landlord and murdered him. Curry was hanged in Newcastle, but his body was hung up in chains from a gibbet at this spot, within a stones throw of the scene of his crime. The headland has been named Curry’s Point ever since. I love how thoughtful people are!
