Since the gingerbread bakeries close at 12 noon on Saturdays, the cafe is a good place to go to get Pulsnitzer gingerbread (Graefe). In the Haus des Gastes (open until 4 p.m.) you can also buy some (from different gingerbread bakers). Local gingerbreads are not (yet) available in supermarkets!

The Harlequin - formerly the oldest gingerbread shop
You will find the harlequin in one of the most traditional buildings in Pulsnitz. The city widely known as Gingerbread City. The house on Julius-Kühn-Platz, built in 1850, was once home to the oldest gingerbread shop, founded by G. Tobias Thomas. In May 1998, the Harlekin opened its doors to its guests for the first time. Back then in the house next door. In the winter of 2006 and 2007, the Frauenrath company converted the current domicile into a café with a bar and additional rooms on the upper floor, which provided space for a guesthouse and holiday apartment. You can find us here to this day. Both the bar and café as well as the rooms, including the holiday apartment, are furnished in an elegant, modern look that does not conflict with the tradition of the house. This is where people meet, whether for a coffee chat, a beer after work, to play, celebrate or meet friends and simply enjoy the time.
The gingerbread ice cream.
Pulsnitz gingerbread soft ice creamIt is made here in-house, i.e. in the city walls of Pulsnitz. Only there may original Pulsnitzer be made! So does our ice cream. We make it with milk, gingerbread spices and no artificial flavorings! You can enjoy it here at home fresh from the machine or as a portion deep-frozen to take home. It is now available from our partners scattered throughout Saxony. You can recognize it by the associated poster and the ice cream cover.
