The Herthasee is located in the west of the Berlin district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf in the Grunewald villa colony. It has an area of around 13,000 m² and is one of four artificial lakes within a tributary of the glacial channel of the Grunewald chain of lakes. In this tributary, which begins at Schöneberg Town Hall, the artificial Herthasee is the last body of water when viewed from the east and meets the Koenigssee of the Grunewald chain, which runs in a southwesterly direction.
