The vantage point near the Ludwig-Kessing-Park offers a wide view of the Essen district Horst in the east. The steeple of Saint Joseph stands out clearly. A large part of the Ruhraue takes the waterworks with its water extraction systems. As part of the Ruhr Art Trail, one of the electricity pylons was provided with colorful, transparent areas - a popular photo opportunity. Directly below the vantage point is a completely preserved arch bridge made of quarry stone, which marks the entrance to the former Holteyer shelter. Today, the listed port facility is used by paddlers and anglers. Over the bridge leads the towpath, which once served to pull freighters up by human or draft animal force (the so-called Treideln). The towpath is part of the Ruhr Valley Cycle Route between Winterberg and Duisburg.

While the Ruhrhöhenweg has long been running along the river bank, the Pingenweg on the Hinsel section of the route certainly deserves this name, as it runs above the Ruhr slope, which is rugged with old quarries, and offers endless wonderful views over the Ruhr valley.

Deeply cut scree slopes, interesting trees, but also crashing cliffs elevate the path to the status of a real trail, albeit in miniature.
