In the Prinsentuin, donated to the city by King William I in 1818, a bandstand was built in 1844 on a regular eight-sided base. This building was replaced in 1881 by a MUSICAL DOME ("orchestral shell") designed by the director of municipal works, J.E.G. North village in Neo-Renaissance style, located opposite the Summer House on the other side of the pond. In 1992-1993 the building was restored, with the original color scheme restored and fencing added to prevent vandalism. The dome is regularly used for concerts. The object is part of a national monument
