Sant Esteve was one of the ten churches consecrated by Pere d'Albalat, archbishop of Tarragona in 1238, and occupies the site of a mosque. In 1276, a new church would already exist, since on that date all the churches, except for Sant Tomàs, which was still a mosque, had been rebuilt.
