In 1852, the property owners concerned allowed the construction of a Way of the Cross on Elsenberg. The consecration of the station path with 14 station houses, which represent the suffering of Jesus with the death sentence in the palace of Pilate up to the burial, took place on September 14, 1855, the feast day of the Exaltation of the Cross.
The desire to build a chapel at the end of the Way of the Cross on the top of the Elsenberg soon prevailed in the community. The foundation stone for this was laid in 1867. Completion and Benedictine took place in 1873. Since then, the Elsenberg has been called Kreuzberg. In 1986 the chapel was extensively restored.

Sauerland Adventure has already written everything about this. A source would be helpful. But thank you for the explanations.
