Our herb garden contains kitchen herbs (1), medicinal herbs (2), paint herbs (3) and legend plants (4), which are plants that play an important role in religion and popular belief. There is also a reconstruction of the garden of monastery Walafried from the year 827 (5). Walafried lives in the monastery of Reichenau in southern Germany and has a Carolingian herb garden. That means that he grows crops prescribed by Charlemagne. See also the exhibition space (4.8).
