The park consists of an open plain with a wide strip of forest on the west, north and east sides. The forest consists mainly of oak, beech, holly, mountain ash, hazel and honeysuckle. On the Bosweg behind the Buitenschool, two (registered) giant sequoias from 1908 are somewhat hidden on a lawn in the woods.[7] In addition to the woody character, the height differences are characteristic of the park (highest point 75 m at the water tower/Steenen Tafel). The elements of the original formal styles, Renaissance and Baroque, with square gardens, straight avenues and a main axis, can still be recognized in the park. In the 19th century, the formal style was transformed into the English landscape garden, with a more natural design, winding paths and vistas. In 2010, the original baroque garden was restored to its old formal style, with the characteristic clean lines of greenery and water. The Baroque garden is the oldest part of the park and belonged to the former country house. The country house Klarenbeek was destroyed by a rocket attack in the Second World War.

In the north of the park is a water tower (1928) with a restaurant at the bottom since about 1967. Nearby is the Steenen Tafel, an upturned gravestone that is said to have come from the former monastery. There are some buildings in the southern part, including the former Arnhemse Buitenschool and an outdoor swimming pool. In the southwest corner is the Jacobiberg with the building of the same name, which was built in 1951, and which until 2017 housed a pop center.
