On the northwest edge of the wildlife park there is a separate enclosure for the fallow deer.

"October and November are the fallow deer's breeding season. During their rut, snoring sounds can be heard from the wildlife park. During the mating season, the fallow deer are aggressive due to rival fights and are also unpredictable towards humans. In the past, the entire outdoor enclosure had to be closed to visitors for a good eight weeks. By erecting so-called mating gates, visitors can now experience the fallow deer rut up close. A small renovation of the outdoor enclosure makes this possible.

The stags are now housed in a separate enclosure from which they cannot enter the outdoor enclosure. Their antlers prevent them from doing so. The barrier is designed so that only the females can pass through it. The female fallow deer can move freely, entering and leaving the separate deer enclosure as they please. Visitors to the wildlife park, on the other hand, can now enter the large outdoor enclosure during the rutting season and also observe the animals' exciting rutting behavior up close.

The rut for fallow deer begins in October and reaches its peak in late October/early November. Calmness returns by the end of November at the latest. The stags engage in rutting fights among themselves, but these fights are more ceremonial in nature. The stag's rutting call is less melodic and resembles a long, rattling roll that rises and falls. After mating, the calves are born in June after a gestation period of around seven and a half months.
