On weekdays, almost nothing is going on - here it is worthwhile a quiet, relaxed walk. At the weekend you meet many cyclists who climb the countless trails. If you are traveling with a dog, you should decide on weekdays or early on the weekend.

Simply fantastic. Unfortunately the courtyard does not have coffee and the shop is open.

Beautiful for a Feierabendlauf almost alone instead of in traffic on the A46, almost all the time view from the lake.

The Natura 2000 area of Rotthäuser and Morper Bachtal with an area of 182 hectares is located as NSG Rotthäuser Bachtal in Düsseldorf and in the district of Mettmann as NSG Morper Bachtal. The following biotope types are worth protecting: Moist high-rise meadows, grove-beech forest and alder-ash and softwood floodplain forests.

Good Papendelle is located in the nature reserve of the Rotthäuser Bachtal and is just beautiful to sigh.
In the morning sun, when everything is still calm, just wonderful.

Idyllic valley-lake-estate combination with beautiful hiking and MTB trails around it. Further towards the imperial house (good kitchen) violent climbs.

Along the Rotthäuser creek below Papendelle we find the biotope type "moist Hochstaudenfluren". The meadows are extensively grazed, the creek edges are free of grazing livestock and mowing, the streams and the growth of willows and alders may develop freely. As well as the silting ponds and wet meadows.

The massive main house with a crooked hip roof is beautifully embedded in the Rotthäuser Bachtal. Unfortunately, it has not been permitted to pass through the courtyard for several years. To get to the north, you have to take a little detour over the narrow path between the ponds.

The name Papendelle as Low German form of "Pfaffental" refers to former ecclesiastical-ecclesiastical property. Unfortunately, sources that only hint at a church or monastic founding of the court are completely missing. A connection to the monastery Gerresheim, founded before 870, would be obvious. It is also conceivable that Papendelle belonged to the landed property in the 12th century, the king Konrad III. In 1144 the monastery Vilich near Bonn confirmed (Lacomblet, vol. 1, no. 350). Accordingly, the Vilich Abbey in Morp had five Herrenhufen Salland, two mills, a forest and another 25 ½ peasants hooves, which unfortunately are not specified by name. The question of founding remains unclear.
