One of the hidden gems in Rangendingen is the monk's house, which is pointed out with a beautiful memorial stone. It can be reached via a few steps/Stäffele in the forest down towards the Mönchsgraben. A quiet place of silence, a bench invites you to linger and think. According to legend, there used to be a monastery on the site, according to other sources even a castle. The Rangendinger local history also mentions an inn. More than 100 years ago, ashlars were laid on top of each other, which were brought to the village as building material. Around 1966, some Rangendingen men made a memorial out of an old tombstone for the monk's house, which is placed on the square, which is about four acres.

From a hiking report of the home club Rangendingen from 03.2019 in the SWP:
.. The detour to the monk's house, which was once below the Hohwacht near the "eight beeches", was worthwhile. You can also see the spring there, which forms a deeply cut ditch, which flows into the Starzel after about 1800 meters, better known as the “Mönchsgraben”. According to legend, a monastery used to stand on the site, and according to other tradition even a castle. There is also talk of an inn in the local history of Rangendingen. More than 100 years ago, ashlar stones were built on top of each other and brought to the village as building material. Around 1966, some men from an old grave stone created a memorial for the monk's house, which is set up on the approximately four ares large square. ..

A little out of the way in the forest but easy to reach via steps. Quiet place of power in the middle of the deep forest. Atmospheric and totally calm, just nature and you.
