June 3, 2024. After an eruption of the Fagradalsfjall volcano on May 29, '24, the hiking trails around the Blue Lagoon are closed. A shuttle will take you from the parking lot to the Blue Lagoon hotel. From there you have to take the hiking trail to the Blue Lagoon. This hiking trail runs through a lava field dating back to 1226.
