St. Leonhard, the main town of the municipality of the same name, is located at 693 m above sea level, in an idyllic location between meadows and forests. The parish church is located just outside the village center. The most famous building in St. Leonhard is the Sandhof, the birthplace of the Tyrolean freedom fighter Andreas Hofer. Today, the MuseumPasseier is located here, which is not only dedicated to the freedom fighter, but also to the Passeier traditions. In a typical Passeier farm, everyday life from times long past is recreated in the open air area. An outpost of the museum is also located in the keep of the Jaufenburg. A short walk of around 20 minutes from the village center takes you there.

A very impressive city if you look closely, with many hidden facets. Right?

A beautiful place in the Passeier Valley. A hike from Merano to St. Leonardo along trail 30 is worthwhile, or vice versa. (approx. 20 km)
