There is a new forest nature trail at Vossenpand in Mussum
Native animal and plant species with a rest stop for cyclists!
There is now a forest nature trail at Vossenpand in Mussum. The municipal waste disposal and service company (ESB) built it on a former private property. The result is a signposted circular path on which interested parties can find out about the local flora and fauna and the different habitats.
In the shade of an old pedunculate oak and surrounded by a "Benjeshecke" made of woodcut, a wooden table stands waiting for researchers of all ages. "We naturally hope that daycare centers and school classes will also discover the forest nature trail as a destination for themselves," says Sven van den Berg from ESB. Tables and benches will also be set up on an adjacent area next to the nature trail. This means that cyclists can take a short break there.
Habitat for plants and animals
20 native tree species have been arranged and signposted around the nature trail. Anyone who goes on an exploration tour here can learn a lot about the local flora and fauna - including aquatic insects and amphibians. This is made possible by a small pond in the middle of the nature trail.
One of the main topics is dead wood as a habitat. Visitors to the forest nature trail learn about the special importance of dead wood as a habitat for numerous insect species.
The forest nature trail at Vossenpand can now be used freely for learning purposes and to linger.

A very beautiful forest nature trail. Quietly located, with information boards and a large seating area. Very informative and certainly interesting for children.

Nice rest area, with well-presented information on the information boards on the forest nature trail.
When approaching, you have to keep your eyes open, as you might miss the facility from the road or mistake it for a property driveway.
